Brrrr It's Cold Outside, Time to Warm Up with Booze!

It’s chilly outside which means it’s time for some warm cocktails! I feel like there is never a large enough selection of warm cocktails and recipes to make in home. So I’m going to provide you all with some delicious ones to try this holiday season!

1) Bubbie’s Spiked Apple Cider

This recipe is actually my Auntie Ruth’s. But the first time I ever tried this recipe, my Bubbie had made the cider. Bubbie is Yiddish for Grandma. So Grandma’s apple cider is perfect for the holidays!

- 1 gallons of apple cider

- 1 cup of brandy

- 2 cups of vodka

- 3 oranges whole

- 30 cloves

- 3 cinnamon sticks

Directions: Pour in apple cider, brandy and vodka into a pot on the stove. Cut 1 "X" on each orange. Place 10 cloves in each orange. Put oranges into pot with cinnamon sticks. Stir all then brew on slow heat until all ingredients combine to your liking.

2) Hot Toddy

My Dad’s name is Todd. My Mom sometimes likes to call him HT, or Hot Toddy! And this is one of my favorite drinks to make during the cold weather. It’s also great to drink when you get sick!

- ¼ a lemon

- 4oz hot water

- 1 ½ oz bourbon

- ½ oz honey

- 2 dashes of bitters

- 1 dash of cinnamon

Directions: Pour all together in a mug (preferably clear). Squeeze lemon. Stir until dissolved, garnish with lemon or cinnamon stick (or both!)

3) Hot Dirty Girl Scout

This is a take on a spiked hot coco, with a little bit of a twist! Enjoy it with friends or family. It’s also great to make in large batches!

- 3tbsp chocolate syrup

- 1 ½ oz Rumple Minze

- ½ oz Baileys Irish Cream

- 4 oz milk, hot (regular, coconut, oat or soy)

- Girl Scout Thin Mint or Oreo

Directions: Mix milk and baileys together in a mixing glass. Pour in Rumple Minze and chocolate syrup. Stir until fully dissolved. Garnish clear mug or bucket glass with chocolate syrup rim. Crush up cookie and dip chocolate syrup glass rim into cookie bits. Pour in mix. Optional: add whipped cream and more cookie crumbs.

4) Slutty Chai Latte

I made this recipe specifically for friends of mine asking about how to make a a delicious chai latte cocktail.

- 4oz warm milk

- 1 chai tea bag

- 2oz espresso

- 1oz brown sugar simple syrup

- 1 ½ oz bourbon or Crown Royal Vanilla whisky

- 1 cinnamon stick

Directions: Steep tea bag into warm milk for 5 minutes. Add in bourbon, espresso and simple syrup. Stir until fully mixed. Pour into clear mug. Garnish with cinnamon stick or frothy milk swirl.

5) Orange Dreamsicle

I crafted this recipe about two years ago, but lost it along the way. But lucky for us, I JUST FOUND IT! It is served cold, but it is made to warm your belly. I created this one when it was 28 degrees outside in beautiful Sun Valley, Idaho. I highly recommend you try this one at home!

- 1.5 oz vanilla vodka

- 1.5 oz orange juice

- 1 oz Bailey’s Irish Cream

- 1 orange peel (optional)

- 1 cinnamon stick

Directions: Pour all ingredients into a shaker with ice. Shake rapidly until all ingredients are mixed. Strain into martini glass. Garnish with orange peel wrapped cinnamon stick.

I hope you enjoy these recipes with people you care about!

Happy Holidays everyone! Stay warm 😉.

Cheers!

Amanda
